I love this latest show from Shoji Fujii in the Paris Men's Autumn-Winter 11 shows... It's all in the detail - notice the feminine influences and key details? What a beautiful mix of classic styling and yet challenging the masculine/feminine dynamic!

With the rise of the new 70's trend, kicking out the 90's for yet another decade, there is some very exciting colours and silhouettes coming our way! Finally fully embracing the high waisted jean that bells & flares right out at the hem, Herme's head scarves like there is no tomorrow and the colours! The new colours are to die for! Rich hues of mahogany, navy, suede tans, chambray blues and hints of rich reds and golden yellows.

But now it is time for research and developement for Hi Summer 11! - which excites me with travel, blogging, research and pulling together the new collection! Couture - Is It Still Relevant?

As apart of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane, I was delighted to sit amoungst other fashion go-ers to hear a panel of 6 industry professionals including Paul Hunt (Designer), Charlott Smith (Author Dreaming of Dior) and Jonathan Ward (Designer) discuss Couture in Australia.

Discussing the current fascination with couture online - the demand for not wanting to be behind from the rest of the world. They go on to say that every country has their own degree of couture. For Australia we have really embraced the new "demi couture" - the half way mark for the modern women with money, but no time for the traditional format of having many fittings to create the made to measure garment. Also that the Bridal Gown is as close to couture as most Australian's get.

Finishing up with the idea of celebrities such as Lindsey Lohan ruining the image of couture - or are they a much needed advertisement for Designers struggling in the GFC?

Creation Sensation

Last night I went to the all inspiring Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE's Graduate Parade Creation.
The night was hosted by Channel 10's Amanda McLeay, with invited guests of up to 500 industry professionals including George Wu, Cyan Reign & Jean Brown buyers & bloggers. There were 3 scholarships up for grabs with Amy Davidson winning a scholarship to Paris to intern at Stylesite.

The level of skill, techinique and a vision to kill was undoubtedly amazing! The music went from dark and moody to completely uplifting. All the while Vivien's models were owning the catwalk with the likes of Hannah Gasby, Cody Young & Emma Sparks. The parade began with Avant Garde, lingerie, swimwear and onto Couture and Ready to Wear. All in all I was completely blown away!!!

Recently I am becoming increasing inspired my the world of men's fashion. I guess women's fashion can be so predictable and same same sometimes - where as menswear embraces the kookyness of the inner man - the inner child. I love it! Us women need to start embracing how easily we can wear men's clothes - while men struggle with ours! It opens up whole new avenues of expressing ourselves though our daily atire - It gives us a new lease on life!

We had an exciting day today. We were presented with the finished Swimwear for the Project that we are working with the students from Metro South TAFE.

So after spending 3 days shopping in London and flying 7 hours to NY - it all started again. Jumped off the plain, put our bags down and it was straight to Madison Avenue browsing the likes of Barneys, Bloomingdales and H&M!
Sqeezing in tourist snaps in between some serious shopping we then spent a day on Broadway and Soho scoping it all out.
Definently loving the military styling & battle jackets! Love all the new pant styling with Chino's and Cargo's smashing the market - and so much patch work denim!

London Calling!

After the long ride from Austalia to London - we arrived at 6:30am and it began.

3 hours in Topshop, then finished off Oxford Street. Woke up & headed straight to Spittalfield markets, Harrods and Harvey Nichels. Not stopping there we spent our last day checking out Soho, Carnaby Street, Covent Garden and finally Top Shop one more time!

So the verdict? Military, military, military - oh and a bit of new school styling, floral and biker jackets...Definently feeling inspired!

Ahhhh now off to NY!

After 24 hours in transit - first place we went!...

Karl on a Coke Bottle!

Karl Lagerfeld & Diet Coke have put their perfectly groomed talents together to design a limited edition Coke Light.
Karl designed the opaque aluminum bottle capped in hot pink with a black silhouette of himself, white collar, ponytail & all.
Not stopping there, he also shot the ad campaign.
Apparently Karl has been a fan of Diet Coke for a while, but prefers to drink it from crystal goblets. Oh how French chic!!! Love Love

I was lucky enough to see Florence and the Machine who are from the U.K at the Brisbane Laneway Festival last Friday, and they were amazing.

Florence and the Machine, is the recording name of Florence Welch and a collaboration of other artists who provide backing music for her voice.

Their sound is generally referred to as soul-inspired indie rock.

I can't stop listening to their debut album, Lungs.

I also got to see The xx who are a three-piece band from South West London.

These guys gave me goose bumps. I also can't stop listening to their debut album, xx.

'Ever since the first bunny-eared model stepped onto the Louis Vuitton Fall catwalk, and after Madonna donned them at the MET Gala people have been wondering, why the bunny ears? Well, Marc Jacobs has finally explained himself. In the making of the 2009 Fall/Winter ad campaign video, he said: "There's a girl who works for us, Lucy, she's on the design team, and Adrian, one of the boys, was tying a little bit of fabric around and it reminded me of bunny. We were thinking of all these different things like can-can dancers, and I saw this piece of fabric wrapped around Lucy's head and said, 'Bunny ears, that's what we need to finish this look.' So we made all these radzimir bunny ears and that's how it happened. I like the kind of Playboy, French coquette aspect to it." Apparently they made 30 to 40 colors before choosing the right one for Madonna's Fall ad. The bunny ears have been explained . . . we can all breathe now.'

Now we are seeing the humble headband is in comeback mode for 2010; but don't go reaching for your girl-next-door Alice band just yet. This is a specific micro-trend that marries the sexiness of a vintage playboy bunny with the elegance of high fashion. Read on for more on the trend and how to wear it.

How to wear it

Do: go for tousled bedhair, a simple up-do, or 60's sex-kitten voluminous locks; be fashion-forwards, daring, and confident; have fun with it.

Don't: spoil it by wearing cheap costume props. The appeal is in the luxury. This doesn't necessarily mean spending bucketloads, just choosing quality materials and well-crafted accessories.

Do: wear it for a night out, day at the races, and any fun or frivolous activity. A big set of bunny ears is probably not so great for the office.

Don't: wear it with outfits that are too cutesy or girly; it's a fine balance between smoldering sexiness and girly innocence that makes this trend so workable.

Who's designing it

Louis Vuitton, as mentioned above, have garnered plenty of attention with their take. But before Marc Jacobs got rabbity for LV, Maison Michel had lace bunny and cat ear headbands in his Fall 2009 collection. There were also bow hats on Moschino Cheap & Chic's Autumn(Fall)/Winter 2009 runway that were reminiscent of Mickey-Mouse ears.

Rhaman's collection was selected as the final winner from: her interpretation of the brief, awareness of youthful target market, innovative print concept, market ready silhouettes & excellent garment construction. Congratulations Rhaman!

The November Issue of British Vogue is titled "Dash Cash": it is not simply to buy inexpensive clothes, but to use imagination to put the whole look together. In the shoot "Make Do & Mend" 3 brilliant stylists have transformed everyday objects into extraordinary fashion pieces. It's about creative solutions borne out of necessity. One of the coolest concepts for a magazine shoot for a long while.... BRILLIANT!

Shopping Bags in different patterns

White Outfit: Paper Doilies, cupcake papers & plastic table cloth. Black & Yellow Outfit: Black Glad wrap for body con dress, bath plug polka dots, with rubber glove voluminous shoulder jacket & matching headpiece.

Candy Coloured Outfit: Cotton wool balls in candy colours (about 6 000 of them) & loo rolls to make wedge heels. Pink Stripe Outfit: Striped paper bags held together with stiky tape worn back with a cardboard hat!
White Fringing Outfit: 45 Mop heads, with a shirt made from floor cloths & wooden pegs. Patchwork Outfit: Cotton tea towels make a cute shirtdress, complete with wooden peg necklace.
Check Outfit: 9 teatowels stitched together to make a corset. White Outfit: Doona dress, sinched in with curtain ties & 10 hot water bottles.

Urban Outfitters (top right) is offering the 90’s favorite, Levi’s 501’s, in a distressed light shade. Kate Moss for Topshop’s (bottom, second from right) line of cropped leather motorcycle jackets sold out in a matter of minutes. And Erin Wasson’s collaboration with RVCA (bottom right) screams 90210 with its denim cutoffs and bustier tops. And of course I couldn’t leave out my favorite 90’s influenced fashion blogger Rumi of Fashion Toast. If you’re interested in incorporating some Beverly Hills 90210 into your wardrobe Rumi’s style is a great example of of how to utilize these trends without the fear of being mistaken for Donna Martin."

Create your own circle cut out Tee!

Inspiration from Catwalks
Tools: What you'll need, it's really easy! 1. Tee, your favourite shape 2. Circle Template, size depends on how big you want the cut out effect 3. Marker, make sure it's not too dark, so if you don't cut neatly you don't see the pen marks! 4. Scissors, get snipping
Progress: I think it looks better randomly cut, rather than symetrical. Hot tip: Could be safer to put cardboard between the tee layers so you don't cut through to the other side. Don't forget the sleeves
FINISHED! Circles cut on front, back & sleeves
TA-DAH! - Layer it over a singlet back with your skinnys.

Teen Vogue’s new pop-up event space, Teen Vogue Haute Spot...very cool indeed...The buzzing outpost, boasts a grab bag of teen merch—including a table brimming with Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown makeup and teen-targeted perfumes like Marc Jacobs Daisy, along with scattered racks of clothes culled from retailers around the mall, including H&M, Paul Frank, Roxy, Coach and Gucci.

But none of it’s for sale in the pop-up. If shoppers want to purchase an item, they head to the store that carries it, then return with their receipt to pick up a swag bag full of makeup and fashion odds and ends valued at $200.
